Job Description

The Farm Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations including crop cultivation, production, layout, irrigation, and other agricultural enterprises as needed. Must have knowledge and experience to perform annual tasks to grow coffee on 1000 acres in Kona, Hawaii. Areas of technical assistance and best production practices include layout, crop planning, fertility management, weed and pest control, irrigation, harvest forecasting and guidance, equipment operation and other concerns. The successful candidate will be a can-do and team-oriented person who takes the initiative and is very organized and systematized in their management efforts for this dynamic organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to prepare and/or assist with preparation of annual forecasts, budgets and other business plans
  • Ability to recruit, supervise and ensure the ongoing training of farm staff
  • Maintain production and other farm records including the estimated operating costs, ordering of farm inputs
  • Ability to maintain control costs of production in line with budget expectation
  • Maintain and produce crops to achieve volume, quality and cost objectives
  • Actively monitor farm employees on job place safety to OSHA standards
  • Ensure safe and effective handling of equipment
  • Ability to undertake activities to minimize environmental degradation. Monitor environmental effects of farming activities and repair existing damage
  • Supervises daily operations
  • Other duties as assigned
