Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated mechanic to join our team. Responsibilities include quarterly Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT), inspection of intermodal chassis, annual Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), inspection of intermodal chassis, performing all aspects of repairs, replacing component parts, as well as completing inspection forms. You will be working along with our experienced mechanic team.

To be successful as a Mechanic, you should be good with your hands and have strong attention to detail.

Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Following company-created checklists to inspect and test chassis (BIT inspection).
  • Performing mechanical repairs of S-cam braking systems used in heavy wheeled machinery, such as disassembly / Reassembly of Air brake systems including brakes, brake spring chambers, spring Brake control Valves, air brake systems leak check.
  • Adjusting air brake slack adjuster to specification
  • Writing labor, time, and parts on forms.
  • Performing chassis lubrication.
  • Testing chassis before and after repair procedures.
  •  In-field testing 12volt trailer lighting system to determine functionality.
  • In-field testing antilock braking system (ABS) electrical devices.
  • Removal and installation of chassis Landing gear, sand shoe, crank handles.
  • Installing mud flaps & retaining straps.
  • Maintaining the workshop areas and keeping areas well-organized.

 

Mechanic Requirements:

  • Welding experience
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • A completed certificate or diploma in Auto Mechanics may be advantageous.
  • 5 years’ experience in heavy equipment, truck and trailer preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be familiar with both manual and automatic transmission types.
  • Strong understanding of mechanics.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, work laying down, and lift heavy machinery.
  • Ability to safely operate Electric lift truck.

 

Hourly Pay Rate: $27 – $29
