Job Title: Food Safety Specialist – Goodyear, AZ
Job Overview: We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Food Safety Specialist to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in overseeing the compliance of our operations with food safety and organic integrity standards. The Food Safety Specialist will be responsible for managing fertilizer inventory and batch levels, maintaining, developing our library of SOPs, leading food safety and organic audits, handling supplier approvals, and ensuring that all processes align with quality, food safety, and organic standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- SOP Management: Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Audits/Recalls: Coordinate and execute mock audits, unannounced and announced audits, and recall exercises to ensure preparedness and identify areas for improvement.
- Supplier Approval & Documentation: Oversee the supplier approval process, ensuring all required documentation, certifications, letters of guarantee, and processes are in place to meet regulatory standards.
- OSP Management (CCOF & NOFA): Develop and maintain Organic System Plans (OSPs) for all organic certifications.
- Document Management: Oversee the organization and accuracy of compliance-related documents within platforms such as FoodLogic, Azzule, and Repositrak.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for food safety and process improvements, working on projects to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in Food Science or a related field.
- HACCP and PCQI certification (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of food safety and quality assurance standards, including LGMA, NOP, FSMA, GFSI, GlobalGAP.
- Proven experience with organic certifications and related documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents including SOPs, GMPs, policies, and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to solve practical problems and address challenges in situations with limited standardization.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position.
- Travel to outside ranch locations as needed
- Office-based, with some field-based responsibilities
