Naturipe Berry Growers Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Finance and Accounting Manager. This position applies principles of general and cost accounting to manage and oversee the Finance and Accounting functions within Naturipe Berry Growers.

Position Summary:

As the Finance and Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily functions of farm accounting operations. Ensuring compliance and adherence with GAAP and other internal policies and procedures. Responsibilities include overseeing the completeness and accuracy of all general ledger accounts, as well as supervision of accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial and operational reporting functions, and others as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the rapid and rigorous month end close and reporting cycle
  • Collaborate in the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly financial and operational reporting
  • Prepare journal entries, research discrepancies and reconcile accounts
  • Maintain and manage the Accounts Payable/Receivable process
  • Maintain, reconcile and report on capital project spending and its variance to budget
  • Maintain, reconcile and report on fixed assets and farm equipment changes
  • Strong ERP software experience required (Sage, JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Collaborate with business management for the development of operational and capital budgets
  • Assist with the yearly running forecast
  • Maintain and manage cash flow forecast
  • Prepare or review statutory filings to local, state and federal agencies timely and accurately
  • Adhere to US GAAP and enforce or develop internal accounting policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business stakeholders
  • Maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives
  • Other duties as required

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7 years accounting experience in a fast-paced environment with progressive advancement
  • Superior demonstrated skills in Excel
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter: ability to learn the operational aspect of a new business at a fast pace
  • Ability to deep-dive into detail, while maintaining a clear vision of strategic goals and big picture
  • Acute deadline awareness and ability to deliver quality work products scaled to fit a fixed timeline

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in production agriculture accounting
  • Masters in Accounting and/or CPA
  • Previous financial or analytical experience
  • Cost Accounting and Inventory Valuation experience
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

 

Work Environment:

  • A professional business office environment with work hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or mutually agreed upon schedule; the schedule is typically Monday through Friday, may include an occasional weekends and holidays.

 

No Seasonal Travel or Relocation:

  • Travel would mostly consist of single day or overnight trips to growing regions outside of the Salinas area. On a rare occasion a 2-3 night travel stay may be needed.

Salary: $140k – $180k / Yearly
