Summary/objective:

The Facility Food Safety & Compliance Supervisor, under direct supervision of the Facility Food Safety & Compliance Manager, maintains the food safety program requirements for the northern and southern districts’ facilities, including Mexico. This includes participation in second- and third-party food safety audits. In addition, it provides leadership, expertise, and comprehensive oversight of food safety program requirements at the facility to workers and colleagues at all levels.

Essential functions: (to include supervisory responsibilities – if applicable)

  • Assists the Facility Food Safety & Compliance Manager in the execution and maintenance of all food safety program functions, such as Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Primus GFS, Organic, and Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) requirements, to meet customer, governmental, and third-party food safety requirements.
  • Ensures all facility food safety programs and policies are being followed by employees at all levels and provides training and corrective actions where needed.
  • Collaborates and works alongside the Sanitation Foreperson to ensure an effective sanitation program.
  • Performs Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) testing and provides direction when needed.
  • Maintains necessary compliance paperwork related to food safety in an organized manner.
  • Oversees iAuditor software and creates digital forms as needed to comply with D’Arrigo food safety requirements.
  • Interacts with outside facilities in Arizona and Mexico to ensure food safety programs and documentation requirements are met.
  • Conducts second-party inspections of outside facilities
  • Participates in third-party audits of outside facilities
  • Ensures corrective measures and safety issues are abated per audit and inspection findings in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining the FSVP, which includes conducting facility second-party audits and inspections on potential new and existing suppliers. If needed, work with a D’Arrigo field food safety representative to approve growing operations.
  • Conducts oversight of the company facility Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), including customer sampling requirements.
  • Oversees and implements the food safety training matrix for all facility personnel, including department heads.
  • Collaborates with operations on the initiation of corrective action and preventative measures when necessary.
  • Oversees the cooling process in relation to the required chemical inputs; this includes troubleshooting, chemical monitoring, and training.
  • Participates in and executes emergency response protocols in times of need.
  • Ensures all facility safety and regulatory programs are being followed by employees at all levels.
  • Follows company policies and practices while representing the company in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, management, customers, government agencies, etc.
  • Ability to adhere to timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Contributes to fostering a positive organizational and food safety culture.

Travel required:

  • Ability to travel to Arizona and Mexico for extended periods of time, including relocation. Must possess a passport or other approved documentation for international travel.

 

Required education and experience:

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Degree, or certification, in a food-related topic or an equivalent in experience of at least 5 years.
  • Knowledge of GFSI standards and guidelines (Primus).
  • PCQI, or equivalent certification.
  • HACCP certification.
  • Supervisory Experience.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • General understanding of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel programs).
  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
