Job Title: Director of Accounting
Department: Accounting
Reports To: CFO
Location: Salinas, CA (Full-time, onsite)
Pay Range: $140k+ annually, with a competitive bonus program

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Accounting Director will spearhead our accounting department, driving the strategic and operational direction of all financial operations. This leadership role demands a proactive, hands-on approach to overseeing financial processes, crafting and executing financial strategies, and ensuring precise and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, paired with outstanding leadership capabilities to inspire and guide a high-performing team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead the preparation, review, and presentation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, providing actionable insights to senior management.
- Ensure strict compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and external regulatory requirements, maintaining the integrity of financial reporting.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to optimize operational efficiency and mitigate risk.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented, and high-performing work environment.
- Oversee and enhance the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners to support audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
- Conduct thorough analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align financial operations with strategic initiatives and support the company’s business growth objectives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Ambitious self-starter with exceptional problem-solving skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
