Job Title: Payroll / IT Generalist
Location: Santa Maria, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $20.00 – $24.00 Hourly

Buenaventura Ranch is a leading agricultural strawberry operation dedicated to sustainable farming and operational excellence. We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Payroll / IT Generalist to support our team with payroll processing and IT systems management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll & HR Support:
- Process weekly payroll for farm and administrative employees, ensuring compliance with wage laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including timekeeping and deductions.
- Assist with employee onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance reporting.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with training and development in the farm office.
IT Support & Systems Management:
- Maintain and troubleshoot payroll software, timekeeping systems, and other IT-related functions.
- Provide basic IT support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Assist with data entry, reporting, and database management.
- Ensure cybersecurity best practices are followed.

Qualifications:
- Experience in payroll processing, preferably in the agriculture industry.
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., DataTech, DataTrack (ADS), or similar).
- Basic IT troubleshooting skills, including hardware, software, and networking.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of agricultural payroll regulations and labor laws.
- Experience with ERP or HRIS systems.
- Trilingual in English, Spanish and Indegenous language skills such as Mixteco, Zapoteco or Triqui are highly desired.
Education Requirement: A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is a plus.
Work Schedule:
- Must work a minimum of 40 hours per week
- May be required to work weekends and Holidays, depending on seasonality.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally is a plus
Work Environment:
- The office is on the Farm, and you may need to go to the fields.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level and working conditions are like those of an administrative office.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet, and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold or heat.
